Shoutout

Welcome to Shoutout, where you can express anything here.

Baseball is a beautiful thing and something that people all over the Philippines love with a passion. Because we at Baseball Philippines care so much about the game as well, we want to give you the opportunity to have your say. So if there’s something that you really like or something that really annoys you, please write it down on Shoutout. There’s nothing like having your say – keeping your feelings in does no one any good.

Whether it’s hitting, pitching or fielding – or even the politics and gossip around the game – baseball has so many different components to discuss. In the old days we could discuss the game with our friends, neighbours and work colleagues, now the internet doesn’t just mean we can Visit foxybingo.com and watch funny videos on youtube, but we can also shoutout about one of the most important things in our lives. Shoutout now to have your say.

Did Baseball Philippines get shut down? No support? That’s typical Filipino bs. It’s very disappointing and frustrating to get the interest of many just get squashed. It’s clear that we can excel in the game of baseball if we get the support. It’s just frustrating!

I’m 17 yrs old know willing to play baseball but don’t have any experience on how to play it can you give me some advice what will i do?

  7. hitSpots says:

Well I guess there’s no league going this year, unless its posted elsewhere. I’ve decided to head back to Toronto anyway. Guaranteed a competitive season there, maybe even contend for a provincial or nat’l. I’d still like to coach and/or play here when I return in the fall/winter… if baseball survives here…

Soooo my fellow ball junkies. Can’t complain about the replies; never gotten one. Anybody else? I’d still really like to play and or even be on a coaching staff out here. Just gonna put that out there…. I know I haven’t reached anyone here or by email to here or the PABA (I think that’s what it is).
BUT who wants to throw??? Anyone??? Dying to get out there…

Hey hitSpots! I appreciate your passion and love of the game. I wish I was there to help you out. how about starting a meetup group? Get everyone’s email and shoot them the time and the place where guys can meet. You sound like a good coach. You definitely have talent to scout players. I know, it is frustrating to contact Baseball Philippines. I’m not even sure if they will continue. I’ve been shouting out for a while now and I’m still waiting for what they have to say. Their website has been stagnant for awhile, too. There’s clearly a lot of interest from a lot of young/not so young Filipinos to learn how to play baseball and reading from what they say they have a growing passion for it. I’ve mentioned about clinics but no reply from BP. I’m not even sure if they read what “shout out” here. But, I would suggest organizing a meetup group for baseball enthusiasts out there would benefit everyone.

    • hitSpots says:

I will gladly give you a week long instructional clinic. If there are any other kids around your age that are interested, even better. Reach me at ianjbala@gmail.com. I most certainly WILL reply and help develop anyone looking to improve. While I’m at it. Any pitchers here in the country interested in small group instructional clinics, do not hesitate to contact. If I get more and more interest we can look into bigger venues and more extensive camps.

      Also. Who wants to throw???

  13. The Bambino says:

Now, the UAAP Baseball Season has already finished, may I know when would be the next tryout for Baseball Philippines?

  14. hitSpots says:

    A) has anyone been replied to here? It’s funny to me that there’s clearly interest, but nobody seems to get a reply.
    B) caught a game last week… “championship game”. The good: CF for Adamson great reads off the bat, solid positioning and one of the better arms I saw out there. SS for Ateneo solid all around. Little flashy but genuinely loves to play. Really quick hands at the plate, but they kept pitching him inside for some reason. Pretty soft hands in the field, quick transfers and quick feet.
Now the not so good: back your third basemen up past even for one its aluminum bats, he’s got all day to throw it. Both were beat down the line more than a few times.
STOP calling for the curve when it’s getting hammered…why was there a pick off play at second (led to two runs on two throwing errors) with a runner on 3rd AND a 4 run lead.…play by play guy: it’s called a SQUEEZE, he’s not stealing home although he did break real early from third.
Anyone here, I’d love to help clean this up in any capacity.
Until then foreigners who wanna throw, I’m in makati. Holla.

When I was in my younger years in San Antonio & Olongapo City (Zambales), I’m always present in playing baseball, every after school hours and during weekends. There was a time (1989) that we’re invited by the school (from the then USNAVCONSTAPHIL) in the former Subic US Naval Base to play baseball. That’s one of my most memorable days. I was never a fan of the basketball here in our country. The last time I play baseball was at age 17. My brothers told me that baseball are only for the rich people, but/because it just happened that basketball was the chosen game of the majority. The government should give greater emphasis also in baseball as another sports in our country. KELAN KAYA AKO MAKAKAPAGLARO ULI NG BASEBALL? KAHIT FOR LEISURE TIME LANG

A new stadium is rising in Korea for the Samsung Lions as reported by Eric Bynum of Baseball de World and it seats 29,000 fans. That’s how big baseball is in Korea. They have a lot of fans who care. Maybe it’s time for Pinoy baseball players to relocate to a new stadium. Maybe if there’s a new stadium fans will come to watch the games? I don’t know, just putting it out there. It’s just baseball has been global for a number of years and I don’t know why it’s still stagnant in the Philippines.

  26. glenbandong says:

I think about baseball when I wake up in the morning.
I think about it all day and I dream about it at night.
The only time I don’t think about it
    is when I’m playing it.
