BATANGAS ROLL OVER DUMAGUETE; CONTINUE THEIR HOT HITTING
The Bulls from Batangas proved that their victory over the Manila Sharks last week was no fluke. They continued their offensive onslaught, as they trampled all over the Dumaguete Uni-bikers, 14-0.
The Bulls had a lot to be happy about after the game. Not only did their offense kick in to high gear against one of the country’s best pitcher, Dumaguete’s Darwin Dela Calzada, they’re defense was spotless as well – not committing a single error en route to a 10 run-rule victory after 7 innings.
Batangas got on the scoreboard early when they managed to score on a RBI single by Justin Zialcita, in the bottom of the 1st.
They then took firm control of the lead when they scored four more runs at the bottom of the 2nd, when a crucial defensive error and a big hit by Teddy Landicho proved pivotal.
Having already scored in each of the first 4 innings of the game, the Bulls then got the 10 run lead that they needed to end the game after 7 innings, during the bottom of the 5th. They exploded for 5 more runs in the frame. Zialcita managed to get his second hit of the game, an RBI triple to right center, capping an impressive debut for the Bulls shortstop.
By the 7th inning, Batangas were already leading by 14 runs, and the overwhelmed Dumaguete side failed to score yet again, as the game was eventually ended on a 10+ run rule.
